I must confess that patience is a virtue that I struggle with. While I do love my wife, there are times that I allow my impatience to get the best of me. According to The Love Dare patience is one of two pillars that love is built upon. When you are patient with your spouse, love works.

Today’s dare is not easy for me. There are more times than not I will respond impatiently with those that I love. I truly do take them for granted. But as the book points out, nobody wants to be around an impatient person.

The book continues to say that patience is where love meets. I want to be a wise lover for my spouse. I say lover not in a sexual sense, but in an emotional and spiritual sense. I love my wife and I want to be wise with that love and patience is a tool that I can use to accomplish this.

When Roberta does something that angers me, I must pray that the spirit rise up within me and not pride and impatience. Especially when Roberta is not intentionally setting out to upset me. I must remember to “allow her to be human”.

The dare started out easy for me, but as the evening came and we were traveling to Tulsa, I began to get impatient with the kids and in turn my wife. I need to be careful and not allow outside pressures influence my emotions to such a degree that it affects my relationship with my wife. She is my life and I want to cherish her as such.

Welcome to the Love Dare Project. This is a recording of Jesse Heath’s 40 day adventure through the Love Dare* book. Each day we will post that day’s love dare and our personal reflection.

Originally, we tried to launch this site in January, but due to technical difficulties, we had to put a hold on the project. What better time than now, the weekend of Roberta’s birthday?

We have been married for almost 6 and a 1/2 years and they have been great. Despite our love for each other and the great times, there have also been some very trying times. There have been times, especially when we allow our busy live to take precedent over our relationship, that it seems that the relationship is straining.

This project is meant to strengthen our relationship and document our emotions and feelings. Hopefully through sharing this journey in a public project like this will help others who read it realize that a marriage is a working relationship and that there are ways to make it work. It is our hope and prayer that if you visit the Love Dare Project, you will be encouraged and blessed.

Join us as we spend the next 40 days going to the Love Dare book and each day’s dares.
